You do indeed only need 3 parts for cars with ribbon connectors: both mirrors, and the switch. I just finished this retrofit in my 2004 BMW 330i ZHP sedan. Also, brand new mirrors don't have the screws tapped, so it's easier if you thread them before putting them onto the car.

Once it's done, you need to code the car, which is the part I'm stuck on now. You simply swap the old blue back switch for the new maroon back switch. The connections are identical going from ribbon connector to ribbon connector.

The swap is basically straightforward-carefully remove the old mirrors and install the new ones. The mirrors don't come with glass and dont come with backs (you reuse yours). I've tried ISTA and a GT1 and can't find the right option.įirst off, Delmarco's DIY, which covers all the e46s:įor ZHP sedans, we all have the ribbon connectors, which means you just need the following 3 parts:ĥ1167153117 For vehicles with Fold-in outside mirror and High gloss shadow line: Heated outside mirror, memory bus, leftĥ1167153118 For vehicles with Fold-in outside mirror and High gloss shadow line: Heated outside mirror, memory bus, rightĦ1316901383 For vehicles with Fold-in outside mirror and Seat adjuster, electric, with memory: Switch f mirror adjust./fldng bck funct.

I'm just about done, except I haven't figured out how to code them yet. Switch on terminal 15 is shown (which means put the key in and switch on the ignition, but without the engine running (well seeing as the car wouldn't start that was a no brainer!) Right arrow again, and it popped up, scarily, with 2 errors with a numbers like: with below it, which I assumed were the mis-matched data from the control module/key - cancelled both these and it then reset the codes, and asked to turn off the ignition (Terminal 15 is off), wait for the main relay to drop out (so left it 20 mins), then the car should start, which it did.I am in the middle of retrofitting power autofold mirrors into my ZHP sedan. Option 2 to reset the code (Start Value calibration), then the right-hand arrow There is a description of the error, then press right arrow. I hope this will help someone else in my predicament!įollowed your instructions and found the Drive, and CSA-DME option.Ĭlicked on Function Selection, then under Service Function select Drive, Engine Management (ME9/MED9), select Adjustment in the middle column, DME-CAS in the right hand column, then the middle double arrow a list pops up and on the list "Note: S1214 NGCAS / Start Value Status". I should have noted this down properly, but here goes. The error was "incorrect immobilizer telegrams received. Tracked it down in the end and got is reset - the on-screen instructions were not brilliant with things like "Terminal 15 is is off" and such like! Takes some time on my little notepad to get from one screen to the next sometimes. Many many thanks Jimmy - The "Quick" tests took almost 20-mins to run, and the car was riddled with faults (which are SEP - Someone Else's Problem!).
If INPA (V5.0.2) has additional files for the E66 that would let me do it that way I’d be happy to do it – I’ve seen/read how to via the DME, and tried this on my E39 and seem ok, but the 7-series throws up the stupid comms error
What I am hoping is that someone can give me a How To guide for dummies on how to re-sync the key in DIS. I could read the engine ECU error but trying to reset the ews throws a comms error and the script stops.Īfter this failed attempt I carefully followed Jimmy’s instructions and installed DIS in VM Player (v3) and this works, after a fashion, and tried it on my E39 but it seems really quite fiddly to use not helped by the screen size in VM player being larger that the desktop resolution meaning I have to come in and out of VM Player to move to any buttons that are off the side of the screen! My version of INPA won’t communicate with it although the E65 files are there in the right folder, and wondered if there is a difference between the E65/66 that needs different files in INPA? The central locking is fine - its the actual immobiliser bit that is the problem - it cranks but won’t start and reports a EWS rolling code mismatch (can't remember the exact error)
The problem is that the key and EWS have got out of sync as a result of the battery being weak and trying to start it repeatedly, which has caused the key/EWS/DME to get out of sync.
I'm trying to help out a mate with a 2005 740 E65 or E66 maybe (not clear on the difference!).
